Wall Sculptures – Wooden Reliefs
My wooden reliefs are created in Munich and combine sculpture and wall object. As wall sculptures, they develop spatial depth and depict the human figure in a reduced, sculptural form.
As with my sculptures, the reliefs are created exclusively with a chainsaw. Visible tool marks and the natural structure of the wood are preserved and shape the character of each work.
Sculptural depth and a clear visual language

For me, reliefs are sculptures for the wall. They combine the spatial impact of a sculpture with the presence of an image, thus occupying a special position between painting and sculpture. The figures emerge from the wood as bas-reliefs and, depending on the incidence of light, continually develop new effects.
Like my sculptures, the wooden reliefs are created exclusively with a chainsaw. The working marks remain visible and are not smoothed. This keeps the process of creation tangible and gives the works an immediate, lively surface. Wood grain, annual rings and irregularities are deliberately incorporated into the design and are part of the artistic expression.
The focus is on human figures, gestures and postures. Often, just a few forms are enough to make movement, humour or thoughtfulness visible. The reliefs do not tell fixed stories, but give the viewer space for their own associations. Precisely through the reduced form, works are created that appear both calm and expressive.
Wooden reliefs are suitable for private living spaces as well as for companies, practices, hotels or public buildings. As wall sculptures, they combine sculptural depth with a clear visual language and create a special spatial presence without dominating the room.
